CII IF1 : Insurance, Legal and Regulatory
The CII’s IF1 exam lays the foundations for the Certificate in Insurance. It is a 2-hour multiple choice question paper consisting of 100 questions, with a nominal pass mark of 70%.
The exam syllabus covers understanding the nature and main features of risk within the insurance environment; knowing how to apply the main features of risk and risk management to a given set of circumstances; understanding the main features of insurance; knowing the structure and main features of the insurance market; understanding contract and agency; understanding the principle of insurable interest; understanding the principle of good faith; understanding the doctrine of proximate cause and its application to non-complex claims; understanding the principle of indemnity and how this is applied to contracts of insurance; understanding the principles of contribution and subrogation; understanding the main regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the transaction of insurance business; understanding consumer protection and dispute resolution; knowing the main methods of preventing, handling and resolving consumer complaints; understanding the CII Code of Ethics and be able to apply the principles to non-complex scenarios.
